Day 7: Piney Woods, East Texas.

His little eyes lit up with wonder as his mom put on his boots and his dad gave him the bright green Snoopy fishing pole. There was less than a foot of water underneath the ramshackle bridge that led to logging trails in East Texas – but it was an ocean of hope to a two-year old.

He and his poppa found just the right spot to cast out and they waited as patiently as any eager toddler can when adventure beckons on the other end of the line.

“Sawyer, I think you’ve got a bite!”

The little man giggled and the big man helped him with the line. And they reeled in a leaf.

“I get a bish! I get a bish!”

He held his catch up proudly. And while others may have seen nothing, I saw a whisper. “See with your heart – and you’ll catch hope too.”

I thank you for being part of my #31days so far. Seeing these photos again is turning my low water crossing into an ocean. I’d love to know your stories of hope – maybe one day I’ll shoot like a girl for you.
