IMG_3443The darkness has always felt near. But it had never felt so close, so palpable. And that morning, we longed for weaponry and super-hero powers to scale walls and crash through roofs – to grab the women being sold like candy next door.

I thought about Flor as I heard the music and the men’s laughter, and wondered what her life might had been like had she been rescued before she decided her body was fair trade for fast food.

Today, I talk about rescue with my friends at The Root Collective. Maybe it’s a different perspective than you’ve considered. I’d love to know your thoughts.

And I’d love for you to join me in Guatemala next February, to join in the story of rescue. We’ll be in Xela, Santiago, and Cerro de Oro February 1-7 and then Chimaltenango, Antigua, and Guatemala City February 8-14.
