There are so many things I want to tell you, love—things about your worth and your design and how incredibly large and expansive God’s purpose is within you and through you. But today, as I think about the word “mornings,” I can’t help but be reminded that the reason I have anything of value to share with you is because the first moments of the morning are spent without you.
It was March of 2008 when the first moments changed for me – when they became real conversations with Jesus about more than the what of scripture but the why of God’s storyline. A few simple questions helped transform a spiritual practice into a precious personal liturgy. “Christ is life in my veins,” I now say. That’s not a platitude about heaven. That is the reality of relationship—a relationship that includes whispered talks before the rush of the day begins. Those talks continue throughout the day, in an ongoing dialogue that breathes eternity into even the most ordinary of hours.
There are so many things I want to tell you, love—things about leading with grace and embracing the whole of your story and staying small and taking leaps. But today, you need to know more than anything that there is a living love note waiting for you, ready to be spoken to you and ready to hear your response. That’s why the For You Love devotionals exist, to encourage you to find the moments and have the conversation and be overwhelmed by the beauty of the storyline. I know I write this over and over again, and the mornings with Jesus and coffee have taught me its truth: we are in this together, and I am for you.
(If you’d like a list of the simple questions that helped spark the conversations with Jesus, message me or comment and I’ll send them your way. If you’d like to know more about the For You love devotionals, you can find them in my shop.
