Shoot like a Girl | New

Day 41: Inside where it’s warm.

It’s a cloudy day. There have been a rash of them lately. Cold, rainy, dreary days. Days that seem good only for warm fleece and cups of hot tea by the fire that pops and crackles its disapproval at the damp air hanging heavy like a blanket.

I love the season of winter. Yet the dreary days cause me to ache a little – my heart longs more on those days for prayers to be answered and people to be healed and lives to be restored. The weight of the air and the weight of the burdens are the same. And I pray for both to be lifted.

And then comes the reminder – that every day brings new with it. New mercies. New life. Enough to go around. Enough to lift the air. So today, this girl is praying for your air – that it be lighter, that it be brighter. This girl is reminding herself – and you – that soon it will be spring.

Spring for your prayers. Spring for your troubles. Spring for your dreams.

Would you share with me how I may pray for you today? Prayer is my favorite. Even on the heaviest of days.

  1. Thank you for this. Join us in praying through a difficult family situation with my step daughter. Seems like my prayer and cry to God remains the same…help me Let go and trust you more. Surrender the need to control. Be understood. Be heard.
That I would have a heart that chooses to forgive and love with boldness and compassion…despite the constant hurt and rejection.
    Our God is greater! !

    1. Oh Tammy, “help me let go and trust You more” is a consistent theme in my journal entries as of late too! Surrender is such a hard word to live – maybe that’s why it’s so essential, right? I’m praying for you, praying for your step-daughter, praying for your family. I’m praying for God to shine and for darkness to flee, for bold love to win, for you to be given words of healing to speak when all is coming unwound. I’m praying for complete redemption. In Jesus’ powerful and precious name.
