“You must try to pray so that, in your prayer, you open yourself in such a way that sometime—perhaps not today, but sometime—you are able to hear God say to you, “I love you!” These words, addressed to you by God, are the most important words you will ever hear because, before you hear them, nothing is ever completely right with you, but after you hear them, something will be right in your life at a very deep level.” ~Ronald Rolheiser
Jesus, would You meet me in this very day? Could You find me in the seconds that become minutes that become hours that becomes the day. If You created time, would You mold it and shape it so I don’t lose it today? Would You speak with an accent today, one that doesn’t get lost in all the other voices? Could you introduce me to moments that I might miss – a tap on the shoulder and a “Take a look at that, would you?”
I don’t want to miss time today. I don’t want to get to the end of the day and wonder where it disappeared or find that it waited for me but I never noticed. I want to find time to breathe prayers and breathe praises and breathe mercy. And gratitude and grace. So much grace.
Please remind me today that You own time.
I am so quick to write the day off as a loss because of one ill-treated moment. But if God is the God who created the time that makes up a second, then there’s always hope for the day. Always. Always. Time will reveal that God redeems time. Even on days when I am praying not to miss it. I’d love to carry your prayers into my moments today – you can message me to let me know what your needs are.
Last year, I shared the stories about pictures I’ve taken. This year during the month of October, I’m opening up my journal and sharing prayers. They’re not eloquent or poetic – they’re simple honest talks with God. Some prayers are joyful and some are screams. Some are said in the morning and some at night. It’s my hope the words might help someone else find the words.
